Citadel Festival for Music and Singing

Citadel Festival for Music and Singing

The Citadel Festival for Music and Singing (Moulid El-Qal’a) is one of Cairo’s most atmospheric summer traditions, turning the medieval Saladin Citadel into an open-air concert venue. Over successive evenings the festival presents a lineup of Egyptian and Arab headliners, folk troupes and military bands across stages built beside the Mosque of Muhammad Ali.

Run by the Egyptian Ministry of Culture through the Cairo Opera House, the festival is known for accessible ticketing and its panoramic views over the city at dusk. Past lineups have blended traditional Arab music, popular song and folk ensembles.
